Locked Into Computational Thinking
Humanism will always lose, unless we invest in it, and honor it
Hi all,
Thanks again Gerben, I really appreciate your insights!
Soooo. While the news cycle is consumed with gossip about Sam Altman and the board of OpenAI (did I say board, or bored?), I thought I’d share a brief missive on something else. Something…. human. Music.
Some Jazz Reggae. Calypso influence. Very good. I wrote sections of my book listening to this. Really. Computers are great, I’m on one now. But let’s take back some human culture, too. We have a rich, diverse history of music, and I think it’s an important part of our culture that “points north,” as it were. Computers are adding machines. We are so much more.
You might also enjoy a wonderful genre, Slovakian Czardas. Syncopated rhythm, usually at 2/4 or 4/4 time. Described as played by a “Gypsy” orchestra, it’s traditional Slovakian and Hungarian dance music. And let me know if I’m missing other notable music, the world over. Here for a taste of Czardas:
Thanks all,

There is something very rich about how art touches us. Music for me as well. Almost all kinds. Two lists I have shared with what I consider 'otherwordly beauty': https://music.apple.com/nl/playlist/otherworldly-beauty-rock/pl.u-06RJbF7p9LB?l=en-GB (rock) and https://music.apple.com/nl/playlist/otherworldly-beauty-classical/pl.u-MD7RNt39RGa?l=en-GB (classical)
