A source who wishes for good reason to remain anonymous. This is journalism and truth folks, we have to have these discussions and we have to continue the tradition of speaking truth to power or just heck…. speaking what we all know is true. As a science writer I have to “take a position but don’t be too zealous.” So I’ll just report what I think—by God’s grace I hope I know—what is worth reading and thinking about:

There is a particularly appalling feature of the arguments from Hamas's apologists. The claim that atrocities visited upon Israeli civilians were not just justified by Israel's treatment of Palestinians, but that the sheer magnitude of these horrors is a necessary reflection of how Palestinians have been somehow forced to feel about Israelis. It is a logic that opens the gates of hell. All torture, rape, mass murder becomes the legitimate manifestation of whatever grievance Hamas feels -- international law, morality, humanity be damned. We should not dismiss how straight the path is from such regressive rationalizing back to the gas chambers.
